The Tierra Viva Collaborative is committed to Latinx environmentalisms, environmental justice, climate justice, and public humanities. We aim to grow Tierra Viva into a multi-institutional network of scholars, graduate students, creatives, and community organizers dedicated to mutual support for scholarship, arts, organizing, and community-engaged work.
Tierra Viva Collaborative emerged from a decade of conversation and currently spans four institutions. Our collaboration started with the edited collection Latinx Environmentalisms: Place, Justice, and the Decolonial and more recently a co-edited special issue of the journal Diálogo, under the theme “(Re)creating Latinx Outdoors.” We’ve come together with support from the Mellon Foundation and the Latinx Storytelling Lab at Cal State University Fullerton to formalize and expand this initiative.
